A Christmas coloring and toy-design activity for ages 4–8

Open the workshop door to a little Christmas creativity. These two genuine pages from My Christmas Workshop offer a scene to color and a place to draw: three friends arriving with a parcel, followed by an empty workbench for a toy imagined your child’s way.

Begin at the workshop door

On The Workshop Door, choose colors for the wreath, coats, and parcel. Talk about who might open the door and what the friends could be bringing. A grown-up can read the short prompt aloud; the picture can be enjoyed a little at a time.

Invent a toy of their own

The second original page, Invent a Toy, leaves the workbench empty for a drawing. Ask what your child would like to make. It could be a pretend vehicle, an animal toy, a game, or something they have never seen before. Add colors and describe one detail that makes it special.

Try a thoughtful-gift conversation

These are optional conversation ideas for the two pages, not extra worksheets or instructions to build a real toy. Children can answer by pointing, talking, or drawing.

  • Who might enjoy playing with this imaginary toy?
  • Which color or pattern would that person like?
  • What would you call your creation?

Carry the idea into the holiday break

Keep the two pages in a folder with a few favorite colors for a family gathering or a quiet creative moment. The full My Christmas Workshop paperback has 40 coloring scenes and 10 open-ended drawing and design pages across five chapters. Its 104 printed pages include opening pages and blank reverses.

Print and enjoy

Print at actual size on US Letter paper (8.5 x 11 inches). Original black-and-white pages ready to color and draw on.

Use the PDF viewer’s actual-size option. If your printer clips an edge, try fit to printable area. Crayons and colored pencils are good starting choices. Test markers first and place a protective sheet behind the page.
